The best waterfalls in Puerto Rico

Ordered by every profile at once · 9 places

Puerto Rico's waterfalls are in the rainforest of El Yunque and in the mountains of the interior, from Toro Negro to Maricao. Some are a few minutes from the road; others take a hike down a river, and a few have pools deep enough to swim in.

This ranking weighs every nature profile at once: scenery, how wild the place is, how quiet, swimming, safety and access. After heavy rain rivers rise fast and can flood without warning: do not cross or swim when the water is brown or rising, and respect closures.

How this ranking is made

Every place has a score from 1 to 5 for each criterion, following a public rubric, and the score out of 100 combines them with the weights of the profile. Most scores are estimates from public sources; places marked “Verified” have been checked in person.
