Things to do on the west coast of Puerto Rico: Rincón and Cabo Rojo

The west coast has the most beaches on the map and the island's best sunsets. In the north, Aguadilla, Isabela and Rincón are surf country in winter and good snorkeling in summer; in the south, Cabo Rojo has the salt flats, the Los Morrillos lighthouse above its cliffs and beaches such as Playa Sucia, Buyé and Boquerón.

La Parguera, in Lajas, adds mangrove cays and a bioluminescent bay, and San Germán one of the oldest churches in the Americas. Far offshore, Mona Island is a wild nature reserve that needs a permit and a boat trip of several hours.
